Zone Conference

Hey again everyone! This week wasn't anything special either. Well, every week is special because I get to serve the Lord all day every day, but nothing too crazy happened. Here's a list of a few things that did happen though.

We had zone conference, and we trained our zone for an hour on being converted to the Book of Mormon. We related how when we are truly converted to it, and to Jesus Christ, we have more of a desire to be obedient and to serve the people. I know that's true, because I've seen it in my ministry. Days that I "feast upon the words of Christ" are days that I honestly enjoy more. It's all related. It was good I think, now we just hope the zone will do something about it!

I went on exchanges with another one of our district leaders, Elder Moore! He's such a stud, and I knew him before the mission as well! He's in the Jacksonville East Stake, and I'd see him at multiple stake activities, as well as EFY all the time. It was a great day. Especially when people asked "where you from?" and we would both say Jacksonville. It was great. We basically tracted and visited potentials all day.

Elder Payne and I both gave talks in a ward we cover on Sunday. I spoke for 15 minutes on missionary work! My absolute favorite topic. I think it went well. I encouraged every member to do missionary work, because that is our great commission. Often people wonder what the atonement of Jesus Christ and missionaries have in common, and I always think of the quote by president hunter.

"What does the atonement have to do with missionary work? Any time we experience the blessings of the atonement in our lives, we cannot help but have a concern for the welfare of others... a great indicator of one's personal conversion is the desire to share the gospel with others."

Just as I was saying how we need to be converted to the Book of Mormon, we need to be converted to Christ's atonement. The Book of Mormon talks all about His atonement, so what better way than to read it?

That's about it for this week. I love you all, have a fantastic week!

Apostle of Jesus Christ + 18 months!!

What an eventful week. On Friday we had Elder Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve apostles come visit the mission! He talked to us for about 2 hours, and we all got to shake his hand and meet him. Such an amazing experience to meet an Apostle of the Lord. Just briefly talking to him, I could feel his love for the Savior and for all of us. At the end of his remarks to us, and his testimony, he gave our mission an apostolic blessing to be able to overcome anything that may be besetting us. As he said that, I felt the spirit touch me greater than it had ever done before in my life. To say meeting him was amazing is an understatement. I wish I had photos for you all!

Other news this week... Well I officially hit 18 months on Saturday! Such a crazy thing to say that. Time really needs to slow down! If I was a sister missionary, I'd be going home right now! Anyway, I burned a pair of my pants, and had dinner with our recent convert Dakota and his family on Saturday and that was super fun.

Genna is progressing and is still on date to be baptized on the 22nd of September! We had a few lessons with her and she's super excited.

We got to go on exchanges with the AP's again this week, and I got to go with Elder Laurens! He's from England and he's super cool. Such a great missionary! Also that night, we had an activity with all the young men in our stake and got to answer their questions! It was so cool. There's pictures of it below.

Once again, my email is short. I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm super lazy and not so sorry after all. Who even reads these anyway? But check out the photos I do have from this week below! Love you all!

Bentism!! 🌊

Look at me trying to be all creative and whatnot for these weekly emails. I hate not being able to come up with anything, but that's the least of my worries 😂. Anyway! So Ben got baptized this week! It was truly one of the best, if not the very best, baptism that I've been a part of. Witnessing Ben overcome his fear of water and get baptized has to be one of the best experiences on my mission all together. After practicing in the font with him 3 separate times, and him getting under 2 of the 3, he was finally able to do it. It was so amazing. Him and his dad walked into the font very slowly, and at first Ben was very hesitant. After looking out at the large crowd of support that he had, he put a giant smile on his face and kept walking. Once all the way in the font, he stood there for a good 5 minutes just thinking about it. Everyone was silent, and the spirit was strong. Then, his dad asks Ben, "Are you ready now?" and Ben nodded his head yes. Although still feared a little bit, he went for it. It was so awesome, I just wish you all could've been there.

It reminds me of one of my favorite scriptures in the book of Mormon, talking about weaknesses. Ether 12:27 says:

"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them."

None of us want to have weakness, or trials, or tribulations, or fears, but ultimately, they make us who we are, when we are able to humble ourselves before the Lord. Just as Ben was able to overcome his fear of water, we all too can overcome our weaknesses. I've seen it first hand multiple times with myself, and those that I serve. I'm so thankful for Jesus Christ and for the enabling power of His Atonement. Check out the photos from the baptism below!

That's really it that happened this week. We moved into our new apartment with the AP's, and we four have a minivan. So I'm a parent now. That's kinda cool. Anyway, love you all and have a great week!
