Another Baptism!

The lord has been preparing so many people in our area, that I'm running out of subject lines! Charles was baptized, and confirmed, this week and it never gets old! He's made such significant changes in his life. From doing every illegal drug you can think of, to being in gangs, and a lot more, he has completely flipped his life around. He didn't want a lot of people at his baptism, so it was very small and short, but the spirit was still there nonetheless.

We should be having another baptism this week for Wylie and Anastasia, this Saturday, so stay in tune for that!

We have been working with David and James, both of which are trying to get baptized this Saturday as well. James will likely go through, but David is super sick. He's not been able to leave the house, or accept visits from us, but he's getting there! We've been fasting and praying for him every day.

Sorry this email is short, but I am running out of time, and broke my tablet this week so I'm using the phone! We will see if I manage to fix it haha. Anyway, love you all and have a great week!

Through the Gate! 🌊

Another fruitful week in the Ogden West stake! Marty was baptized and confirmed this weekend, and has entered the gate! The Lord is preparing so many people in this stake, and I have nothing to complain of it! We also had quite a few lessons, and found some new potential investigators this week. Here's the rundown! Last Monday was nothing special, and can't remember what we did, plus LDS emails were having issues, so it was awful!

Tuesday, Elder Link had to go to the clinic in the morning, and afterward we stayed there, and watched the broadcast with the new first presidency! It was amazing to hear from our newly ordained prophet and his counselors. We thank thee oh God for a prophet! Tuesday was also the last day of the transfer, so we had to deep clean our apartment. That took a while. Then that night, we had a lesson with the Fowers, Wylie and Anastasia. We taught them the plan of salvation, and found out that they lost a daughter at 6 months old. We were able to reassure them of where she was, and how they can see her again. It was a great lesson, and they for sure have a testimony of the plan already.

Wednesday, we had a lesson with the Rowe kids. All 3 of them are on date for the 10th of February. We taught them the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I believe. Can't remember fully. It was good though! We also got Marty interviewed that night for his baptism coming up that Friday. It was a good day.

Thursday, we had district meeting. Afterward we had like 3 lessons cancel on us, so that was no fun, but we tried contacting former investigators instead. Kind of a half dead day. We did have a lesson with David that night, on the plan of salvation. We set a new goal for him of getting baptized this coming Saturday, so we will see what happens! To close the night, we had our weekly stake correlation.

Friday was awesome! In the morning we had service at this rodeo place, setting up for a rodeo. While we were there, we took some pictures by this wall that had some cool paintings. Check them below! Afterward, we weekly planned until dinner. That night, Marty was baptized by his fellowship, Brother Goulding! He asked me to give the talk on baptism, so that was cool! Afterward, we played some basketball with some non members in the YSA ward!

Saturday was kinda slow. We contacted some formers, did some tracting, but nothing came of it.

Sunday Marty was confirmed a member of the church! It was an amazing confirmation, and sacrament meeting. That night we went to his house, and finished filling the baptismal record since we forgot to beforehand.
That's my week for y'all! I love you all, talk to you next week!

Transfers!

Another transfer comes to an end, and I'm sitting here wondering how they go by so fast. It was a good one though! Lots of success, and a lot of work. Elder Link and I are staying together, so I get to finish his training! This next transfer will hopefully be just as busy. This week wasn't too eventful, but I'll give you the rundown!

Monday we went bowling, and I basically just took a fat nap all day, and was super lazy. Very productive p day!

Tuesday we had a lesson with the Rowe family, who have 4 kids who are wanting to get baptized! They are looking pretty promising, but they're like never home, so we will see how that goes. We also had a lesson with Marty, but he's so solid and already knows everything, so we kinda just reviewed a little bit. He's getting baptized this Friday, so we are excited!

Wednesday, we had a zone training from the zone leaders, and it was really good. Afterward, we had service at the Salvation Army for like 3 hours. We did a little bit of tracting in the late afternoon, but not much came from it. That night we had church ball, so I played with our recent convert Hunter, and we destroyed! Haha it was really fun, and he's really good.

Thursday, we had a lesson with Wylie and Anastasia Fower. They're shooting to get baptized on the 3rd of February! We talked about Jesus Christ and Baptism. The rest of the day we did some tracting, but not much success!

Friday, we had huddle with our senior couple, and we also weekly planned. We also got to watch President Monson's funeral, and that was great. That night we had a lesson with this girl named Amy, who's friends with a member in our stake. She doesn't have a Christian background, but it was a good lesson. Hopefully she will become a little bit more interested as we teach her more.

Saturday morning we did some service at the DI. I honestly can't remember what happened the rest of the day though!

Sunday was a good day. Church was fantastic like always, and we had dinner with one of my favorite familes, the Brickeys! They are so awesome, and super funny. That night we tried visiting a few potentials, but no one was home.

Thanks everyone for the constant love and support. You guys rock! Hope you all have a fantastic week!

A Few More! 🌊🌊🌊

Another amazing week in the Ogden West Stake. Today, I officially hit my 10 month mark! It's flying by way too quickly. Hunter, Rachel, and Sheridan were all baptized! Hunter who is 20, has been meeting with missionaries for so long now, and most recently been receiving the lessons from a senior missionary couple. We were able to work with him a little bit, and get him ready for baptism these last couple weeks, since he lives in our area. His baptism was so packed full of friends and family to support him in his decision, and the baptism was great! The spirit was so strong.

Rachel and Sheridan Pope were baptized just a few hours after Hunter! They both asked me to baptize them and I was so honored! I loved teaching them a ton, and they have come a long ways. Since there was a baptism early, the water was sitting in the font for a while, and the water was freezing! After I baptized them, they were so freezing cold, that they both basically jumped out of the water when we finished haha! They had tons of family there, and almost everyone was crying because of the spirit that was there. It was a very good day Saturday, and definitely one that I won't forget!

We also found a new investigator this week. Marty Johnson, who's in his early 70's, decided he needs a change in his life, and he knows exactly how to do it. He's always liked the LDS church, but since we have been teaching him, and he's been praying about it, he knows it's true. He came to Stake Conference this week with us, and is on date to be baptized on the 19th of this month! It's looking great for him, and we are so excited to see how much further he progresses.

We had Stake Conference this week, and it was amazing. We had a member of the Seventy address us, Elder Mcuin, who was a mission president in the Provo mission just 2 years ago. He was so inspired, and gave amazing talks at every session. President and Sister Jaggi also addressed us, and they always kill it!

That's really all I have this week. Love you all so much, talk to you next Monday!

New Year and Anotha One 🌊🔥

Last week of 2017 was a success! McKoy was baptized on Saturday! He was so ready, and it seemed like it just couldn't come quick enough for him. He's going to be a stud missionary in 4 years! This week was super fast, so I don't even remember lots, but I'll do my best!

Tuesday was only a half p-day, so we really only did the essentials in the morning. Went shopping, and did some "preparing" for the week. Later in the day, we tried making contact with some of our investigators that we haven't been able to meet with. Not too much success.

Wednesday we had district meeting again. We ran up to the office afterward to grab more books of Mormon, and other pamphlets. Ended up staying there longer than we hoped, doing favors for the office staff. Later that night, we had a lesson with Katie. We were planning on teaching the Plan of Salvation, but she was having a really bad day. She has PTSD from serving in Iraq, so we taught about the priesthood instead, and gave her a blessing. She was super grateful and appreciative.

Thursday was packed full of lessons! First we met with McKoy, teaching him the last bit for his baptism on Saturday. We also had a lesson with Ashton about baptism. He knows he needs to be baptized, and wants to be, but won't give up his smoking addiction. We have been helping him a lot, and he's improving a lot, but he needs a bit more time. He is shooting to quit before the 13th of January. That night, we had a lesson with 2 sister's, Rachel and Sharidon, about the 10 commandments. They are supposed to be baptized this coming Saturday, but they missed church again, so we are shooting for the 13th!

Friday, we didn't do any work. I was super sick with a bad cold, so all we did was weekly plan for our investigators. McKoy was also interviewed for his baptism that night.

Saturday was the baptism! Elder Atienza baptized him and his Grandpa confirmed him! It was a spiritual baptism, and even President Jaggi came! He loved it, and sees a ton of potential in McKoy, just as we all do. After the baptism, we went to an Italian restaurant with his family. The evening was spent contacting a bunch of investigators to make sure they went to church the next day. We did have one lesson, with a 9 year old girl named Taylor. She wants to learn more, but is scared about baptism,so we are going to start meeting with them and familiarizing her with the gospel more.

Sunday was new years eve! Sunday was pretty regular. At night we had an activity with the entire mission. Lots of activities, games, and fun. Then, we had a spiritual devotional by President and Sister Jaggi, and celebrated the new year (at 10). Then we returned home and went to bed! I stayed up til midnight, since I always have, but my companion was out by 11. It was a good day.

Hope you all had a fun and safe new years. Let us accomplish everything we set to this year, with the help of our Savior! I love you all, have a good week!

Christmas Baptisms!

First Christmas on the mission is officially in the books! Wasn't at all what I expected it to be like, but it was definitely fun and memorable. Here's a glimpse of what the week looked like:

Tuesday, we were walking around visiting a few people, and we saw someone shooting hoops at the basketball court, so we stopped to talk to him. We ended up playing with him for about an hour, and talked to him about his life story, and about the church the whole time. Turns out he's had a pretty rough past, and basketball is his getaway. It is mine as well, so we got along super well. Turns out he's never met with missionaries before, because his parents didn't let him, but he was interested and had some questions. We answered some of them until he had to go. Turns out he doesn't live in our area, but I will let you all know what happens next!

Wednesday, we had district meeting, and afterward we had interviews with President Jaggi. It's always great meeting with him! After that, we had a lesson with Savanna, teaching her the last couple things she needs to know before her baptism. Then that night, Elder Atienza and I went to lessons in Harrisville for the sisters. We taught a man named Enrique, who wants to be taught by elders for some reason, but it was a super good lesson. He's super prepared, and we convinced him to be taught more by the sisters that cover his ward, so we made a smooth transition for them haha.

Thursday.... Was lots of tracting and contacting with no luck.

Friday morning we helped one of our Investigators, Jess, move. She's super solid, but is moving to the Logan missionaries, so hopefully they don't drop the ball ;). After, we had huddle with the senior couple, the Bucks, and correlated the work in the stake. That night, we got Savanna interviewed for her baptism, and she was all ready to go! We also had a lesson with a girl named Claudia and put her on date to be baptized on the 13th of January. Will let you know what happens with her.

Saturday was awesome! We held the baptism for Savanna, and it was amazing and spirit filled. She was baptized by her uncle, and confirmed by Elder Link on Christmas Eve at church! It was his first confirmation, but it was awesome. I also got to attend Maria's baptism in my old area! I'm so glad she and her husband are both striving to be sealed in the temple in a year from now. That baptism was also very spirit filled!

Christmas Eve we had breakfast with the Andersons before church, and it was delicious! Then, we were able to go to church and listen to the amazing testimonies and musical numbers from so many members. Also, Savannas confirmation of course! That night, we had some awesome meals with other members of the stake, including the Bittons and the Nielsons.

Christmas day was the best! In the morning, Elders Beckdol, Atienza and Murrillo came over to open presents. Afterward, we went to brunch over at the Nielsons house! It was awesome. Then I got to Skype home to my family, which pretty much made the day! We spent the rest of the day with other members, and finished the day by working out with brother Bitton. It was awesome.

I hope you all had a merry Christmas, I love you all!

Merry Christmas!!

Next Monday isn't actually our P-day, so I guess I'll say this now, Merry Christmas! Our p day will be on Tuesday, and only until 1:00 for some reason. Probably because I get to call home on Christmas! Anyway, this week wasn't too eventful sadly. I'll give a quick rundown.

Monday was the normal thing!

Tuesday, we had zone conference, which was pretty awesome! The trainings were mostly on solidifying investigators, and getting "unstuck". Most of the missionaries in this zone are having a hard time with being stuck with no success. I'm sure that the trainings helped them as it did me.

Wednesday, we had service at Ogden Nature Center, and it was pretty fun. We picked up trash, and cleaned windows the whole time. Later that day, we had a lesson with Jordyn, and it didn't go too well. She's got a lot of concerns right now, and isn't ready to be baptized. She said she will continue to go to church, and read the book of Mormon, but that's about it.

Thursday, I don't remember a thing!

Friday was awesome! We got to leave the mission, and go do service at Ben Lommod high school, and set up for an event that they are having soon for Christmas. There were Logan Utah missionaries there too, and I got to see Elder Hudgins, who's serving from our stake! We took a picture, so see below for it! That night we met 3 girls, ages 11, 14, and 17, while tracting and they accepted us to come back!

Saturday, we collected and handed out tons of winter clothes to homeless people in the Ogden area! It was awesome to see their faces, and how grateful they were to receive it.

Sunday was a complete blur other than church. I'm sorry. I'll write better notes down this week, or start writing in my journal for once!

I love you all and hope you have a merry Christmas!
