Sleep Prayer..?

If you can't tell from the title, I have a super funny story to share later in this email so stay tuned.. But this week has been pretty good! I'll give you all the run-down.

Tuesday, we had the great opportunity to attend the temple as a mission. It's such a tender mercy that we are able to go every 3 months in this mission. Missionaries in other countries are lucky if they go once their whole mission. Anyway, it was a super good day.

Wednesday, we had district meeting, and interviews with President Jaggi. We had a very good chat, and I learn a lot from him every time we meet. We also got to go to the temple again with our recent convert, Kaiden! It was so great being able to do 2 days in a row. Later that night, we just did some less active visits.

Thursday, we got to go to Hill Air Force base, and do some more service at the thrift shop. Other than that, can't remember the rest of the day.

Friday, we had an amazing visit with a non-member, Edu. I can't remember if I mentioned him before, but he is Catholic, but is very interested in what we believe. We gave him a book of Mormon a week ago, and he said he would read and pray about it. When we came back this day, he told us that he did read and pray, and that he actually really enjoyed it. He said he couldn't deny that it seems true, and that he did feel the spirit. He said he's going to talk it over with his family, and his wife, and see if this is the path he should take. He didn't say we can come back and teach him more, but he said he will keep reading and give us a call when he has a decision. We're praying he continues to feel the spirit, and Invites us back!

Saturday was a blur, but a super funny story did come out of it... I woke up in the morning, and my companion told me that I said a prayer IN MY SLEEP. I asked him was it a good prayer, and he said it was so profound that he couldn't help himself but to say amen after it, even though he knew I was sleeping :-). I knew I sleep talk every night, but this is a new one! Anyway, Saturday night we had the music in the park again, and had a decent turn out!

Sunday was just a regular church day. Not much happened in the evening.

That’s all I have from this week. Love you all, hope you have a fantastic week!

5 Months!

I'm not sure where this last month went, feels like my last email was titled 4 months, but wow! Anyway, this first week with Elder Black has been pretty good. He's from Sacramento, California and he's been out for a year! I will probably only be with him for this one transfer before I leave Clinton, but I'm going to make sure I enjoy it with him! This week has been lots of finding, and not too much has happened, so I'll just update you on everyone we're teaching instead of the normal weekly email.

Trent, 25, who was supposed to be baptized on Saturday didn't show up again. He said he's been excited for his baptism for the last 2 weeks, but has not shown up to both. We think he's a little nervous, and he hasn’t been answering our texts or calls. It's sad, because he's made so much progress and has built such a strong testimony this last month, but Satan is really getting in his head. We're going to continue to pray for him, and hope he comes around soon.

Haiden, 13, is an absolute stud, and his family is the best. He reminds me of my little brother Bradley, and he's super funny. We've taught him just the first lesson so far, because he's so busy with football, but we have another appointment with him and his family tomorrow. He's on date for the 19th of August, and he's progressing super well!

We have a lot of potential right now in our area, and we're starting to shift our focus from finding, to solidifying our potentials. We have a few lessons set up with other non-members, but nothing promising yet. Will keep you all updated!

I love this gospel, and it has brought me so much joy and peace in my life. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ LIVE, and know exactly what we are going through. It is through our savior, who is Christ, that we can all feel of this peace. He knows exactly what we're going through, and as we exercise faith in him, our trials will become blessings. I know this because I have felt the Holy Ghost testify of it to me. I've loved these past 5 months, and I wouldn't trade anything else in the world for it. Being a representative of Jesus Christ, I have seen many lives change, including my own. I'm excited to see the change that lays ahead for these next 19 months. Thank you all for your love and support, I hope you all have a great week.

Much love,

TRANSFERS!

This week was really not that fun, but I received great news... I'M STAYING IN CLINTON! Unfortunately, Elder Dantas is leaving to go be a Spanish missionary. I'll miss him, but my new companion is Elder Black and I love him! He was in my district my first 3 months, and now he's back! On top of all this, we have a CAR! I'm super excited to see what this next transfer holds.

So, Monday we marched in the Pioneer day parade in Ogden, and it was really fun! After that we got to go to the movies as a mission, and see the movie "Love, Kennedy". It was really good but really sad! While we were there, the family and the actors were there with us, and we got to take a picture with them, it was really neat.

Tuesday, I was sick ALL DAY and we didn't get to go out all day... I hate colds!

Wednesday, I was still super sick, but we managed to get out a little bit. We went to district meeting, and then the rest of the day we tried to do some finding.

Thursday, I went on exchanges with Elder Rodgers in the other part of the stake, while Elder Lauer came to be with my companion. We had a few lessons, one of them being with an 11-year-old who wants to be baptized. While we were teaching him, he was telling us about this dream he had that he wanted to come true. The dream was that he wanted Peach and Mario to come in real life, and live with him so that he's not alone :-). It was super funny, but we tried not to laugh since he's just a kid and doesn't know any better

Friday, we had dinner with the Blackburns! A super cool family. The dad is not a member, and neither is one of their sons, and they agreed to having us teach him! Great family all around, and our goal is to see them sealed in the temple in a year!

Saturday my sickness struck again, and didn't get to do much at all..

Sunday, we went to church as usual, then made a few visits later that day, but not much happened.

I actually had a few pictures this week, so I hope you all enjoy! Have a wonderful week, love you all!

Pioneer Day!

I had no idea how big of a deal Pioneer Day is here, but happy Pioneer Day! I thought it was a small occasion, but they go all out here! This email will be a bit shorter, because we have to leave for the parade soon, but this week was pretty good!

Monday, we hiked waterfall canyon with the Elder that baptized my companion 5 years ago! He said it was super cool to see him again. I had pictures, but they still haven't sent them to me, so hopefully next week! That night, we had dinner with Bishop Ropelatos family and they are just so awesome!

Not much happened Tuesday.

Wednesday, we went on exchanges with the Spanish elders in our zone. Elder Dantas is going Spanish speaking next transfer, so President wants him to get some experience before he does! We also had district meeting, and we gave our last district training, before transfers next week. I’m excited to see what's happening, but sad to see Elder Dantas leaving.

Not much happened Thursday either haha, I'm very forgetful.

Friday was awesome! We were packed full with lessons. A few less actives we’re working with, and then we also met with Edu and Trent. Edu and his family are non-members that we knocked on their door this week. They're kind of interested, but they're die hard Catholic. Super nice family though! Then we taught Trent again. He's getting baptized this coming Saturday!

Saturday wasn't too special either. We tried to do some finding, did some service, and our lessons all fell through. Super hot day too. That night we had our musical thing in the park again, and had an amazing turn out! So many people came to hear us sing.

Sunday was great. Two, soon to be missionaries, gave their farewell talks in our wards. Elder Pack is going to San Jose California, and Elder Theesin is going to Lubbock, Texas. Both their talks were great! My companion and I also gave a 15-minute talk in the 3rd ward. I think it went well!

Thank you all for the continuous prayers and support! I hope you all have a good week. Love y'all!

Mission Call!!

A lot of awesome things happened this week! Once again, this week felt like 3 days, but hey that's life has a missionary. I'll give you all the run down, and I have lots of pictures this week!

Monday morning, we went to breakfast with Elder Spencer and his companions, because it was our last day with him... He has served an honorable 25 (yes 25) months and he will be missed. He brought a lot of fun to our district, and we'll miss having him.

Tuesday was zone conference at the mission office. It was really good, and I enjoyed all the training given. I was really motivated by the training to have more faith to find people to teach, and learning to teach in the Saviors way. He was the perfect teacher, and so I strive every day to be more like him. Later that night, we got free Slurpees from 7/11 because it was July 11th!

Wednesday, my companion and I got to go to the temple with our recent convert, Kaiden! It was his first time, and he said he truly felt the spirit there. It was a great day for all of us! Later, we did some service pulling weeds for an elderly lady. We visited a less active, Duane, and had a really good lesson with him and his kids.

Thursday, we went on exchanges with the zone leaders in Riverdale all day. Was a super slow day, and not too much happened, but it was good to be with Elder Conaway and Martin. That night, something amazing happened!! Elder Rodgers, who is a trial missionary serving in our mission, received his real mission call, and he will be STAYING IN THE UTAH OGDEN MISSION! Our entire district rejoiced when he opened it, and he was so happy that he will be staying.

Friday.... I have no idea, whoops!

Saturday, we taught Trent about the word of wisdom and law of chastity. He was very receptive and agreed to living by these standards to be baptized in 2 weeks! Later that night, the Sisters had a baptism in their stake, so we all went and performed a musical number at Jenina's baptism! It was a fantastic baptism, and was great to be part of her special day.

Sunday was a scary but good day. My companion and I gave 2 talks in 2 different wards. I think mine went well, then again, I have no idea! Trent came to watch our talks though, and he loved them. He then stayed the full 3 hours of church.

That’s about all I got from this week. Hope you all enjoy the pictures and email, and have a wonderful week! Love you all!

4 Months!?

This week was my 4 month mark, which means I got 20 to go! I want to say it's flying by, but then again it isn't. Days feel like weeks, and weeks feel like days! This week was good, don't really remember all what happened though. This morning Elder Spencer went home, and our district is super sad about it. He served a good 25 months!

Monday, we did the regular thing, speedball, shopping, and hung out. That night we decided to knock just one last door before returning home, and we found a new investigator named Trent! We had a good chat with him and invited him to baptism. He agreed, and said he truly wants to make changes in his life and come closer to Christ.

Tuesday, the 4th of July, was great! We had a recent convert lesson with Vicki Morgan, and she brought a friend to the lesson! After the lesson, we invited her friend to be baptized, and she said she would. She lives in Layton, so we referred her to the missionaries there! That night, we had dinner at the Hardymans (dope family), and we watched them do some fireworks after dinner, since we weren't going to be able to watch them at night. We had to be in our house by 6:30 :(

Wednesday, we had our district meeting, and afterward we had interviews with our Mission President, President Jaggi. It went really well, I just love that man to death! That night, we had a lesson with Trent in the chapel, and taught him about the sacrament. The lesson went great, and he was really engaged in the lesson.

Thursday, I went on exchanges with Clinton west, the trio, so I was with Elder Spencer and Elder Beckdol, while Elder Richards stayed in Clinton North with my companion. It was pretty fun, we had a lot of lessons. At dinner, the wife of the man feeding us, had shingles and asked if we would give her a blessing so I did. After the blessing she said that her vision wasn't blurred anymore, so the priesthood is real!

Friday, was a normal day.. Did some finding and no luck.

Saturday, we taught Trent again. We also put him on date for 29th of July! He's progressing extremely well and has already gained a strong testimony. That night, we had dinner with the Mills, who are probably one of the coolest families in all of my wards, so it was great!

Sunday, Trent came to church with us! He was engaged into the talks, and said he learned a lot from them. He even went up to the speakers after the meeting and thanked them for their remarks. He's such a great guy, and I'm so grateful to be teaching him to follow Christ!

By the way, I’m getting all the letters and such, even if I don't reply! I don't have much time to write hand written letters. I love you all and hope you enjoy this week!

Crazy Week!

This week has both been amazing, but super sad at the same time... Very eventful! If you read past this, you'll find out why ;)

Monday, we did the usual thing, speedball and hang out.

Tuesday, we knocked almost all the doors in the apartment complex in our area, but nothing promising.

Wednesday, I went on exchanges with Elder Lauer. Part of being a district leader is going on exchanges with the other elders in your district, to train them. He's been out for 20 months, and was just released from being a zone leader, so I think he's the one that did the training! He's a super great missionary, and a cool guy, so I enjoyed it.

Thursday and Friday was a blur... Oops!

Saturday was the crazy day... We started the day by going to Chilis, with a whole nonmember family of 5, and taught them the restoration. We invited them all to be baptized, they said no, but they did invite us back, so we're praying in the future they will! They are seriously such a nice family. Later that night we saw a LOT of smoke in our area, so we quickly biked to it. Turns out our bishop’s house caught fire, and almost completely burnt the house down. The frame of the house is there, but the inside is gone. Super sad, but luckily no one was home, so everyone is okay. I'll add a picture below.

Sunday was a great day. It was fast and testimony meeting at church, and it was the most spiritual one I've ever been in. Everyone was crying, because the bishop and his family showed up, even though they had no clothes to wear, only what members gave them. The bishop got up, and was so humble about the entire thing.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and safe 4th of July! Love you all, have a good week!
